2017 also saw more people do Facebook Live videos across all niches. There will be more of the same in 2018, with more marketers jumping on the bandwagon to push their brands.
Digital marketers will focus on stories
Ever since Snapchat pioneered the “stories” format, which is all about featuring the high points of a social media user’s day which will vanish after a set period, this interactive communication method has become a social media staple. Today, platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, and even YouTube have their own version of the “stories” concept, and hundreds of millions of users already make good use of them. That’s millions upon millions of people that digital marketers can reach, that is, if they make “stories” a big part of their strategy for social media.

Digital marketers are aware that most people don’t really like sharing personal information that landing pages typically ask for to get leads. To reassure them that their information will be protected and used properly, we can expect brands to make moves to reinforce the encryption and security on their websites. A system with better encryption and security will make people trust them more to willingly provide information and boost their leads and eventually, conversions.

2017 was a good year for social media influencers, as they became the recipients of millions, even billions, of dollars from companies. They can expect even more in 2018, as companies have realized that social media influencers effectively communicate with consumers without being as invasive about it as most traditional marketing channels. Their authenticity is also a huge factor. With more funding pouring in, you can only expect social media influencers to become even more influential in 2018.

Whatever the product or service, people will always believe what other customers have to say about it more than they would social media influencers or celebrity endorsers. In 2018, testimonials and customer reviews will be given more attention by brands and digital marketers, who will leverage them to improve conversions.

Well, it’s a little too early to say that chatbots will rule the world, but they sure are making baby steps towards it. In 2017, chatbots dramatically changed customer support—and business in general. While the AI being used by these chatbots still has plenty of room for improvement, it has nevertheless come a long way in delivering better customer experience. Some chatbots are so good customers have a hard time telling whether they’re dealing with a human or a computer.
They were successful in 2017 and will see more success in 2018, especially with companies working non-stop to make the AI even more intelligent. More brands will also incorporate semi-intelligent chatbots into their marketing strategies.
